We're off! First stop Providence

Before we hit the road we stopped by Providence to see the wonderful MacKay/Martinez family... Thanks for seeing us off!

Our next stop was Union, New Jersey to visit the Leavy gang and have some delicious pizza and bagels... We are so glad that Reagan and Seamus love our "house" so much!

Yes in fact we hit the road. It was about 10:30am on Sunday. Our beginning mileage was 11,250 on the Four Winds Chateau Sport - yes in plain English, we own the sport version of a house on wheels. :) I'm guessing the "avec une toilette" deems it the sport version?

Well, in addition to seeing Suzanne, Heri, and Lia on our way to Union, NJ and a great visit to the Leavy's, we stopped by the lovely port town of Mystic, Connecticut for a quick lunch. Quaint little CT town. But, I kind of felt like I needed to ditch my t-shirt and jeans for some white slacks and a jumper. Anywho, if you ever go to this neat place I would SOOOO not recommend driving an oversized vehicle down it's streets.

So, FYI Carolynn and I consider ourselves on some level to be foodies. We parked the afore-mentionned Chateau on a curb down a side street and hit the town walking, looking for a quick bite. We decided on a place called the Harp and Hound. It had six "specials" listed outside. A BLT, a chicken sandwich, bangers and mash, and a few other Irish-type pub grub items. We thought - OK a quick sandwich menu, eat, and hit the road driving again. Well, after we had a few sips of our sodas, the menus arrived. The "specials" listed outside were in fact the entire menu. We looked at each other pretty stunned, but stayed anyway. All in good fun. This trip is for the experience, right. Well, the server returned to deliver our cups of clam chowder - one in each hand carrying them like she was about to throw a candlepin bowling ball from each. My first thought was how the heck is she not burning her hands. Before the thought even left my brain, she said "Let me know if these aren't hot enough". Really? Would have an extra 45 seconds in the microwave prevented you from thoroughly serving the other 2 patrons in the place? Wish us better food luck on the rest of our journey...

  1. Didn't you know that lukewarm chowder is considered a delicacy in Mystic? I'm sure this is not the last disapointment. Keep up the blogging.
    Thanks, Paul et al.
